J J R Grimstone.

John Joseph Reginald Grimstone, born 1937, at Glebe, a residential suburb of Sydney, NSW, to Austin R L Grimstone and Eileen L Kantor. John was the eldest son in the family of four children, they comprised two boys and two girls, Ivy was the eldest, followed by John then came Eileen and finally William, better know as Bill.

At the age of one year the family left NSW bound for Queensland, they settled in James street in Fortitude Valley, an inner suburb of Brisbane, in 1944 the family moved to Zillmere which is an outter suburb of Brisbane, here they rented an old style Queenslander home which was situated on a few acres.

In late fourties the family moved to Wavell Heights, they had purchased some land and with the help of a local builder set about constructing a three bedroom home, this would be their home for some years.

John's education was spread over a number of schools,Sandgate, Nundah, Chermside, Wavell Heights and then his final years at St James in the Fortitude Valley area.

His career in the work force started as a Shop assistant in Radio and Electrical, then into Projectionist, Welder, Design and Drafting, Sales and Marketing and finally setting up his own business in the Waterproofing Industry.

In 1959 John married Barbara Maureen Bateman, they had two children, first born a boy Shane Michael followed by a girl Kay Linda, John and his family set up residency at Nundah, an inner suburb of Brisbane, as they moved through the years they were able to buy and sell some property, and finally establishing a weekender at Toorbul.

Joined the Lions service organization in 1981, held all Board positions, and on a number of occusions held positions on the District Cabinet.

Retirement in 1998 left them with more time to spend with their grandchildren, which numbered four, two girls and two boys, passing on to them what they had learned over their years of growing up.
